Senior Family Worker

Permanent – 24 hours per week

Lisburn Sure Start

£18,233.28 per annum

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

•           Build trusting, respectful relationships with parents / carers and children aged 0 – 3

•           Support the Family Work Coordinator where necessary in carrying out initial registration visits with families conducting an assessment of need to provide appropriate intervention and services for families

•           Support the Family Work Coordinator where necessary to allocate referrals to the Family / Child Health Team

•           To carry a caseload whereby home visiting and outreach support are offered and facilitated to families

•           Provide parenting support and practical advice on child development, positive behaviour, routines etc

•           Plan and deliver group programmes such as stay and play, parenting programmes and health promotion workshops

•           Support families to access relevant services including early education, health and specialist support

•           Signpost families to appropriate Sure Start services and programmes ensuring the most appropriate support for the family

•           Monitor children’s development and implement collaboration decision making model conversations where appropriate

•           Identify any developmental delays or safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action in line with policies and procedures

•           Work closely with health visitors, social workers, speech and language therapists and other professionals

Essential Criteria:

  • Level 3 or working towards Level 5 Child Care Learning and Development
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children or families
  • 5 GCSE’s at grade C and above including English Language or equivalent
  • Clean drivers’ licence and access to transport.  Successful candidate will be required to have business insurance for their job role.
